
An avid Blue Jays fan, he never missed an opportunity to watch a Jays game with Shirley. He enjoyed Friday night league hockey and fast ball with his son. There were many laughs and good times on the lanes, ice and ball fields. Not only was he a player, he was also a coach. He was the king of car pool karaoke.Ī lover of sports, he could often be seen sporting a bowling shirt, hockey jersey, or a baseball jersey. There are many happy memories of the great family road trips to visit family in Nova Scotia, Vancouver, Pembroke, Chapeau, Ottawa, Sault Ste. Jim loved to travel and take trips with his wife to Las Vegas, Mexico and Hawaii. Jim was a man of great faith and was President of the Holy Trinity Parish Council, Past President of the Holy Trinity Men’s Club where he headed many fundraisers for the Holy Trinity Youth Camp on Rock Lake.

Many of our memories are of Jim in full uniform at numerous functions where he formed countless long-lasting friendships.Īs an active member of the community, he was a member of numerous organizations, some of which are: Manitoulin North Shore Navel Vets, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 76 Sudbury, Old Guard Sudbury Association, VETAC of City of Greater Sudbury, Irish Association 2nd Bat Irish Regiment of Canada, 2912 Irish Army Cadet Corp Band Master, Founding member of the Admiral Mountbatten Alumni and HMCS Acadia to name a few. Sudbury #44 and served as Commanding and Area Officer.


Jim found great joy in the Navy League Cadet Corps. Jim served on several committees including Chairman of the Donovan Improvement Committee where he worked endlessly on implementing improvements to the parks, playgrounds and walking trails to mention a few of his accomplishments. He was a big believer in giving back to the community and served on the City of Sudbury Council and Regional Council for nine years representing Ward 4. Jim worked at INCO as a millwright and retired after thirty years of service. Jim will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will be deeply missed by his siblings Ken (Kay predeceased), Barbara (Brian), Darlene, Dennis (Collette) and Mary (Richard) and by his many brothers and sisters in law, Marilyn (Ray) both predeceased, Jean (Doug), Gloria (Clem), Lillian (Bob predeceased), Hilda (Phil predeceased), Anne (Gilles), Christy (predeceased), Gail (predeceased), Kevin predeceased (Etta), Kelly and Sherry. Cherished grandfather of Jori-Lee (Aaron), Macey (Tom), Cloey, Darcie (Sonia), Joshua, Michael, and Jamie-Lee and honorary grandchildren Brooke and Cameron.

Jim and Shirley raised three beautiful children, Tracey James “Junior,” Tina (Claudio), and Tiffany. Survived by his loving and devoted wife of fifty-six years, Shirley (nee Roach). It is with great sorrow we announce his unexpected passing at Health Sciences North on December 8th 2021 surrounded by his loving wife and family.īeloved son “Jimmy” of Joseph and AnnaStasia (nee Chepaskie) Ilnitski both predeceased.
